Staff Council

Serving the staff at North Georgia

Staff Appreciation Day

Staff Appreciation Day is Tuesday, May 10 from 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the Hoag Student Center Great Room.

Staff Council will be showing our appreciation for staff members by providing FREE massages by Jolie Day Spa and refreshments!

Chili Cook-off 2011

The Chili Cook-off will be Thursday, February 17th from 12:45 until 2:10 in the Hoag Student Center Great Room.

Although you may not be cooking chili for a Super Bowl party with our Falcons on the field (ouch), it's still chili cookin' season!  Do you have a "killer" chili recipe?  This is your opportunity to enter your best best pot of chili in the cook-off and smoke the competition!  If you aren't able to enter your own chili, mark the date on your calendar and come to eat chili prepared by some of North Georgia's finest chili chefs.

This annual event, run by Staff Council raises funds for the NGCSU Faculty/Staff Foundation Scholarship Fund as well as for the NGCSU Faculty/Staff Relay for Life team.  Your participation will help with this very important cause and you will get to eat some great chili too.

In conjunction with this year's cook off, students from Fine Arts will be providing chili bowls for sale.  Funds raised will be shared between Staff Council and the Student Art Club, SPECTRUM.  Several people have already signed up to enter their finest chili recipe in the competition!  Surely there are some of you out there that can top the likes of characters like Steve Smith! ;)

Please email Valerie Fambrough if you are interested vmfambrough@northgeorgia.edu or call at x1775.

White Christmas Program and "FREE" Breakfast - Wednesday, December 8th

The NGCSU Staff Council and Community Helping Place (CHP) need your assistance to make this year’s White Christmas Program a success! Last Christmas, the program served over 235 households which included toys for 432 children. Please see the below words of gratitude from White Christmas Program recipients:

“My great grandchildren have lived with me since they were babies. Times are so tough and I have to stretch my check really far to cover all of my bills. It takes a load off my heart to know that they will be able to get a nice Christmas.” – Great Grandmother of Two

“Due to my being diagnosed with a catastrophic disease, our family of six received White Christmas assistance. Words cannot express our gratitude in our time of need. We simply did not have the funds to purchase Christmas presents or even the Christmas meal. Thank you and know that your program helped.” – Mother of Four

You can help by participating in Staff Council’s White Christmas Breakfast, Bag-A-Feast, and toy collection.

Bag-A-Feast
Our “Bag-A-Feast” collection begins this week! Departments will receive paper bags with holiday food lists for Lumpkin County families in need. We ask that you work with your departments to fill the bags with the specific, non-perishable food items listed. The feast bags will be collected at the White Christmas Breakfast. If you are unable to attend the breakfast, please contact Audrey Bush or Tiffany Yeoman at x-1951 to schedule an earlier pick-up.

If you do not receive a feast bag or need extra bags, please contact Audrey Bush or Tiffany Yeoman at x-1951.

Feast Bag List:
1 1lb canned ham (non-refrigerated)
3 cans green beans
2 cans corn
2 packages instant mashed potatoes
1 can chicken broth
1 box of macaroni and cheese
1 box cornbread mix
1 box cake mix
1 can of frosting

Toy Collection

Decorated boxes are placed around campus for the collection of NEW unwrapped toys. If you are unable to attend the breakfast, this is a great way to still make a donation! CHP typically receives an abundance of stuffed animals that are bulky and very difficult to store. Please consider alternatives to stuffed animals when selecting your gift donations.
